Disappearing pondless waterfalls

Now, for those of you who want a waterfall but aren't sure about a water garden or a koi pond due to space, time or young children, there's always the "disappearing pondless waterfall". This special disappearing pondless waterfall system includes the waterfall, a stream, rocks, gravel, and aquatic plants that you would have in a pond, but no fish and more important no water deeper than an inch or two! That's why it is called a disappearing pondless waterfall!

Disappearing pondless waterfalls are perfect for schools, businesses and those who want a front yard waterscape, travel frequently, have young children or limited space. It's called a disappearing pondless waterfall because the water does not form a pond, instead disappearing into an underground "pondless" reservoir beneath rock and gravel.

The water is pumped to the waterfall, then down a stream and disappears into the "pondless basin", which contains the pump chamber and pump. The modular equipment in the pondless waterfall basin beneath the rocks and gravel is strong enough for more than ten adults to stand on.

The disappearing pondless waterfall appeals to those who have limited space or want curb appeal, but seek an alternative to a pond. We have had the privilege of creating disappearing pondless waterfalls on two Extreme Makeover Home Editions for ABC-TV in 2004 here in Southern California, one of them in our very own city, Redlands, California.

That segment, which references Eric Triplett, the owner of Exotic Aquatics & The Pond Digger, Inc., initially aired on PBS in May 2004. Also in the spring of 2004, Exotic Aquatics participated with a team of Certified Aquascape Contractor Review Board members to build a water garden display for the Epcot International Flower and Garden Show at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Summer of 2005, The Pond Digger^TM led his regional Certified Aquascape Contractor team to a first-place victory in the North American Waterfall Building Competition, which took place during a Pond Business Industry Convention near Chicago, Illinois.
