The Pond Digger
The Pond Diggers and Exotic Aquatics hosted a Ponds For Schools event at Franklin Elementary in Redlands, California in the Fall of 2006. The sun was shinning, the weather was perfect, and the kids were super pysched out to build a disappearing pondless waterfall for their school!

Ultimately, it was just an all around beautiful day to build a waterscape, but then again what day isn't perfect for building a waterfall, pond or water garden?

Let me extend a big THANK YOU to the Teacher that made it all happen, Ms. Hazlett, another big THANKS to all the kids that asked the many great questions and also to the ones who actually got their hands dirty!

I enjoyed the pond day very much. The reason I enjoyed it is because I got to take pictures with the pond crew, I also got a brand new pond in my school. I got to help cary the liner and help put it in the right place.

I thought the pond was going to have fish, but we didn’t. My favorite part is when I got to help, it felt like I was one of the workers. I think the pond is the best but I still wish for fish!

One day we made a pond. Plus we got to help make the pond. It was a lot of fun making the pond. Plus you get nik-names and its really cool getting nik names. Plus you get to be in the news paper and that’s really cool being in the news paper.

We had a pond installed. I got to help set out the tarp. After that we put in the rocks and when we were done we took three photos.

The pond looks very nice. The pond crew did a great job. I had a lot of fun watching them build it. That little dirt corner, became a nice big pondless waterfall.

Yesterday we had a lot of fun because it was POND DAY. We couldn’t wait until that day. I got to help to carry the plastic to put under the rocks. I didn’t think it was going to be done that fast and look like that. I liked how it looked anyways.

The new pond we got is very cool. I got to help them too! I picked up the plastic liner too. It looks like it’s naturally made.

It was really fun helping to build the pond. We also got to take a picture with the pond and the pond crew. I got to help, we also got to see how they build it. Everybody got to learn about it. I thought it would have been done in a week. Now we have a pondless waterfall stream.
