Sorry I missed your second post of this bird. This bird is a Green Heron. I used to find nests of Green Herons when I was little. When I would try to walk under the nests the parents would try to regurgitate food on my head to attempt to scare me off! They are a neat bird... maybe not so NICE around a backyard pond full of fish though! The nice thing about this guy vs a Great Blue Heron is that the Green Heron is a lot smaller (18 inches tall) and should have a harder time eating large fish. The smaller ones may be in for a surprise though!
Have this bird been back fishing at your pond?

we are very lucky he didn't like the dogs watching out for the fish and decided their might be a better place to eat!
