I'm building my first pond and would like to use limestone for a bridge and water fall. Is this safe?

Sorry for the delayed response. The Holiday weekend bogged the calendar down! But boy did I need a little R & R!

At any rate.............Limestone and sandstone are both soft stone and can elevate PH in your pond. I don't think that a little boost in PH will have a bad effect on your pond, it may even be a nice boost to the pond's ecosystem however using the limestone on the bridge will certainly create some weight limitations for you.

Additionally, the stone in the waterfall may start to fall apart overtime so brace yourself for doing a face lift on the waterfall in a few years.

None of these issuses are deal breakers by any means.

Happy Pondering,
