[attachment=162]This is the 2nd year for my pond. All of my pond plants are not doing well. Water Lilies, Hyacinth, Umbrella Palms, Canna, etc. Everthing thing keeps deteriorating and just not looking good. I have tested my pond water and the only thing that is elevated is the PH at 8.8 and we show a hardwater condition. We just put floating Hyacinth in last weekend and it's almost dead. Fish are doing fine. When the pond was new everything florished, had to thin out the Hyacinth weekly. What's up and how can I improve it. The pond is 35' by 10" hourglass shaped. I'll try and insert a 2006 pond photo when things were doing better except for the hyacinth wouldn't survive then either.

Your pond looks great, thanks for the picture. It sounds to me like you didn't have this problem last year, right? That is interesting to me.

I have had problems maintaining healthy plants in the past with ponds experienceing extremely high PH. Oddly enough it would seem that the PH was in the 8.8 range and even HIGHER.

The ponds that I had issues with revealed immediate problems and when we looked into testing the tap water we were informed the properties were on WELLS!

So my question to you is; Are you on a well? If so, what has changed from last year to this year?

What is the PH of your TAP WATER?

Did you use limestone rock in your pond? Limestone naturally buffers PH and alkalinity. This could be part of your problem.

Looking forward to your reply...........
