In August of 2003, my wife and I had a pond installed by Exotic Aquatics in which we are well pleased. I have managed to keep all my fish alive since day 1. Our first challenge of pond ownership began June 29th of 2004. For the first time, my wife noticed a huge bird on our neighbor’s roof. It looked somewhat like an Egret or a Heron; it was in the evening.
The next day I received a call from our neighbor at 2:15pm telling me a large bird just flew over my house. I immediately ran down stairs and found this huge white Egret in the center of my pond. I yelled at the bird and it quickly flew to the neighbor’s roof and stayed there for about 15 minutes then flew away. I began to look for my 10 beautiful Koi and could not find 1. I became sad but understood the process of survival. About two hours later one of the fish peeked its head out of the tunnel. Yes, it was the tunnels that the fish swam to for safety. I remember during the consultation when we were talking about the options for our pond, that it was highly recommended. We agreed to have two installed. The egret has made several trips to our pond since then but the Koi continue to hide for safety in their tunnels. I write this letter today saying that all 10 of my Koi are still alive. We are absolutely convinced that had it not been for the installation of the tunnels recommended by Exotic Aquatics we would have lost every Koi we had!
Thank You,
