Imagine…………
- No need to reduce the feeding regimen on your fish to help control algae!
- No more channeling pad and lava rock filters pumping dirty water back into your pond!
- Now your gravel came be aerated and cleaned easily through out the year without the need to drain the pond completely!
- No need to remove you fish from the pond each year for a spring clean out!
Before purchasing a pond kit or a pondless waterfall kit, make
sure you know what you are purchasing. Know what the filter is capable of, and be sure you understand the maintenance requirements.
Compare filters BEFORE you hire a contractor to install a pond or pondless water feature for you!
Make sure you know what you are getting! Does your pond have a Vortex? The Hydro Vortex™ Hybrid Koi Pond filters combine
the proven characteristics of high-end koi pond vortex filters, with the low cost and easy of installation qualities of the popular waterfall filters.
A vortex inside your filter means that you'll have cleaner, healthier water than all the other brands
of filters. The Hydro Vortex™ line of biological filters support the highest SSA available of any filter in their size ranges. A higher SSA
means the Hydro Vortex™ Hybrid Koi Pond filters support a higher number of fish in your pond than other brands of biological filters.
The vortex inside the filter spins particulates out of the water into a settling cone for ease of remove
upon maintenance routines. The drain on the settling cone allows for simple and easy back flushing of sediment and detritus from the filter.
Unlike all other brands of biological filters, the Hydro Vortex™ Hybrid Koi Pond filter allows you to clean it without having to remove the
media from the filter! The Hydro Vortex™ filter completely hides the media from view and allows you to put rocks, gravel, and aquatic plants
placed on the top for a more natural look than other brands. A Hydro Vortex™ filter does away with heavy, messy, difficult to clean lava rock
and filter pads!

Each Hydro Vortex™ model has the same Patent Pending design features that consist of a round vortex body
design coupled with a settling cone on the bottom and waterfall opening on the top. Each model comes complete with a bottom drain, and
drain kit - AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. Each inlet and outlet has threaded inserts that eliminate the need for bulkheads. Each inlet jet is
situated to force water into a circular whirlpool path within the filter.
The Patent-Pending Hydro Vortex™ design uses a round vortex water chamber with side inlet vortex jets
that forces the water into a spinning whirlpool within the filter. The spinning water uses centrifugal force and gravity to capture solids
from the water into the center of the filter media.
Heavy particulates like sand get trapped in the center of the vortex funnel where gravity forces them
to drop into the settling cone at the bottom of the filter for easy removal. Light particulates are spun out to the edges of the filter where
friction against the filter's sides slows them down and lets gravity force them down to the settling cone for easy removal.
The diffuser grate forces water to flow up evenly through the filter media above the vortex and settling
cone. The filters feature the revolutionary Hydro FilterSilk™ media that is neutrally buoyant and fills the entire body of the waterfall filter
for maximum growth of beneficial bacterial, maximum retention time, open void, and water polishing. The upper diffuser not only keeps the Hydro
FilterSilk™ in place, but it also serves as a support for rocks and pebbles to naturalize this filter into the landscape easily.

Each filter features a round vortex chamber, a cylindrical bottom settling cone, two threaded inlet
vortex jets (the Ahi has one) that forces water to swirl within the vortex chamber, a threaded bottom clean out drain outlet, 10' of drain
pipe, a ball valve, 2 male pipe adaptors, one plug, lower diffuser grate, upper diffuser grate, easy to install liner gasket flange, stainless
steel screws, washers, and self biting nuts, and Hydro FilterSilk™ media that has an SSA of 61 per square foot. No additional media is required!
The problem with most of the common waterfall filters is that they are not "back flushable", they don't
have settling cones, and they don't have bottom drains. They are difficult to clean because the only way to clean the media inside them is to
physically remove it by hand and pressure wash it.
If you've ever had to do this, its pretty gross and extremely messy as you can see from the photos. Most
of the expensive, high-end koi pond vortex filters feature settling cones, and bottom drains for ease of "back flushing" and cleaning without
having to remove the media from the filter
This is a nice feature of the filter, but it tends to be extremely pricey. The Hydro Vortex™ filter combines
the affordable cost of waterfall filters with the high-end, "back flush" technology, and easy cleaning bottom drain features of expensive koi pond filters.
